A Whimsical Night With Alice Phoebe Lou
The Seattle crowd immersed themselves into the sounds and voices of Alice Phoebe Lou during her intimate set as an opener for Clairo’s first night at the Paramount Theater.
The 31-year-old artist from South Africa brought on a four-person band with keys, bass, drums, guitar, and Lou playing guitar herself. Introducing herself to the crowd, Lou talked about coming back to Seattle and what her experience has been like.
Illuminated in warm lighting and guitar ready in hand, Lou began her concert with her song “Angel” from her “Shelter” album that came out in July of 2023.
The blend of drums, simple piano chords and bass lines, and Lou’s voice created a dream-like and ethereal vibe, transporting myself and the audience back to a warm, slow summer day even as fall has settled in Seattle.
Her song, “Open my Door” captured this feeling beautifully. The song, which has recently been popular on social media and gaining popularity through Instagram reels and TikTok videos, seemed to be loved by many in the audience.
Many awaited for one of Lou’s most popular songs, “Witches”. A fan even shouted out onto the stage for the song to be played. Lou eventually went on and played the song and fans showed their excitement through dancing and singing.
While closing out her set, Lou reminisced about her time on tour with Clairo.
“It’s been so nice being on this tour,” said Lou. “We’ve had such wonderful audiences like you… We’ll be back here on our own sometime soon.”
It was safe to say that many left the concert as a new fan of Lou as expressed by many on social media and through conversations with others at the show.
